Whilst Eryri Snowdonia is famous for its stunning mountain scenery the National Park also has some lovely scenic villages to visit. Surrounded by beautiful landscapes and each with their own unique character they're a "must see" for any visitors or photographers spending time in the North Wales area.

The best views of Tryfan mountain wales

The iconic Snowdonia peak of Tryfan towers above the Ogwen Valley (Dyffryn Ogwen), a glacial valley running between the village of Capel Curig and the small hamlet of Ogwen Cottage. It's an iconic Snowdonia mountain and extremely popular with photographers, myself included, so here I describe my favourite photo locations for views of Tryfan.

A walk around beautiful Polperro in Cornwall

Just back from a great week in South Cornwall, the week was mainly coastal walking... just over 70miles & 10,000feet height gain...so didn't really have time or the energy for any photo shoots but I carried the camera on the walks. This is my favourite place of the week, the beautiful Polperro

The Northern lights over Penmon Lighthouse Anglesey

Another photo of the best aurora display ever in the UK captured at Penmon lighthouse Anglesey in North Wales. A truly magical evening in North Wales photographing the Northern lights. I've visited Anglesey many times over the years but it's never looked quite as amazing as this with the best aurora display in the UK so far. During this extremely rare display of the Northern lights in North Wales I was able to photograph colours that are much less frequently seen that the usual greens & pinks. The night sky was like a rainbow of colours with red, purple & yellows all displaying strongly, probably a once in a lifetime Aurora event for North Wales

Breathtaking Aurora display of the Northern lights over Anglesey in North Wales

An amazing aurora display of the Northern lights here in North Wales last night. I headed for Penmon lighthouse (Trywn Du) on the Isle of Anglesey hoping to capture the aurora and I wasn't disappointed. The Northen lights lit the skies above Penmon lighthouse for several hours, I arrived at 10.30pm and was still taking photos at 2.30am the next day. The aurora display was pretty spectacular with the skies full of amazing colours, at times almost like a rainbow. Visiting another waterfall in North Wales with the camera today - The Vale of Ffestiniog waterfalls

North Wales is a perfect place to discover waterfalls and today I wandered through ancient Celtic rainforest to reach the wonderful waterfall Rhaeadr Cymerau near Llan Ffestiniog. As pretty much always when photographing waterfalls a good flow of water is best so if you're going to visit try to time it after rainfall.
