A 3 day North Wales photography workshop, hosted by local photographer Simon Kitchin, author of the popular guidebook, Photographing North Wales. An opportunity to photograph the stunning mountains, glacial lakes and abandoned slate quarries of Eryri / Snowdonia and the dramatic coastline, lighthouses and castles of Anglesey and North Wales.
 
The 3 day residential North Wales workshop is limited to just 4 participants to ensure you receive a personalised experience and have the best opportunities to improve your landscape photography skills.

The North Wales workshop price is £795pp which includes:
  • Half board hotel accommodation (Standard Double Room) with breakfast & 2 course evening meal (Fri/Sat night) 
  • Full tuition throughout and all transport between locations during the photography workshop.

A non-refundable deposit of £150 is required to book a place. Final payment due 6 weeks before the workshop by bank transfer.

Workshop Itinerary:

Arrival/Departure times/Meal times are confirmed, location timings and sunrise/sunset may vary dependant on weather conditions etc and will be confirmed during the workshop. 

Friday:

  • 2.30pm: Arrival, introduction, Check in hotel.
  • Photo shoot/sunset (Anglesey)
  • 7.45pm group evening meal back at hotel

Saturday:

  • Sunrise shoot (Anglesey)
  • Breakfast back at hotel
  • Photography around Eryri/Snowdonia and/or North Wales coast.... (lunch break at a local cafe - at participants own cost)
  • Sunset shoot (Anglesey or North Wales coast)
  • 7.45pm group evening meal back at hotel
     

  Sunday:

  • Sunrise shoot (Anglesey or Eryri/Snowdonia)
  • Breakfast back at hotel/check out
  • Photography around Eryri/Snowdonia
  • 2.00pm - Return to hotel/drop off and say our goodbyes

    • Filter choice and how to use them, including a practical demonstration

  • Half board accommodation (Double room/Single Occupancy) for 2 nights at the Premier Inn, Bangor  - an ideal base to allow us to visit both Eryri/Snowdonia and the Isle of Anglesey. Half board dining (Breakfast & 2 course evening meal) at "Table Table" pub restaurant located next to the hotel.

  • All transport between photography locations during the workshop. 

  • 1-2-1 time for each participant during the day. 

  • Maximum 4 in a group to ensure everyone gets the best support during the workshop.

  • The workshop includes 2 sunrise and 2 sunset shoots (weather permitting).

  • Hosted by a local photographer with expert knowledge of the area as the author of the popular guidebook PHOTOGRAPHING NORTH WALES.

  • Qualified teacher; BA (Hons) Degree in Education & Training.

Access to some photo locations on The North Wales 3 day workshop, mainly in Eryri/Snowdonia National Park, is sometimes  across pathless terrain and may include some steady uphill walking, although this will be minimised as much as  possible.  Distances to individual locations vary but may include up to 40 minutes continual walking on paths that are rocky and uneven. Consequently participants do require a reasonable level of fitness and mobility, please ensure you are confident in your own health & fitness before booking on the workshop. Due to the terrain & distances walked unfortunately the course is unsuitable for those with limited mobility.

Items to bring with you

  • Camera/lenses/Spare memory card/batteries/tripod - A digital camera with "semi-automatic/manual" controls (Aperture and Shutter priority) is recommended to get the most from the course.
  • Filters (if you have them)
  • The relevant user manual for your camera
  • Warm/waterproof clothing and suitable footwear - weather can be unpredictable all year round in North Wales and workshops can take place in very changeable conditions throughout the year so you need to be suitably prepared, just in case.

What is NOT included in the North Wales photography workshop?

Snacks, lunch or drinks, personal/camera insurance, travel to/from the workshop. I recommend you consider obtaining suitable personal insurance to cover both your equipment and travel.
 

What happens in bad weather?

With changeable weather often producing the best conditions for dramatic photography you should be prepared for potentially wet or windy weather. However, your safety is of the utmost importance so I regularly monitor weather forecasts and if conditions are predicted to be completely unsuitable/unsafe, it may be necessary to cancel a workshop. I will endeavour to provide at least 24hrs notice, although this cannot always be guaranteed; you will be offered either a full refund (including deposit) or a place on a future course.

TERMS TERMS AND CONDITIONS

1. A non-refundable deposit of £150 is required at booking for the 3 day North Wales residential workshop.

2. Full payment is required 6 weeks before the workshop date. Payment can be made via PayPal or Bank Transfer

3. Due to unforeseen circumstances I may need to alter or cancel a photography workshop, in which case I will endeavour to provide as much notice as possible, although it may still be cancelled up to 24hrs before the arranged day. If I deem cancellation necessary you will be offered either a complete refund (including deposit) or a place on a future workshop, whichever you prefer. If the cancellation is due to under-booking (a minimum of 3 participants is required to operate the workshop) you will be notified no later than 7 days prior to commencement of the workshop.

4. The Workshop involves varied terrain, may take place in a variety of weather conditions and may include the need to walk long distances which could include steep inclines.  Workshop participants should ensure their own suitability, health & fitness for locations visited and by booking on the workshop are confirming their own personal responsibility in accepting the risks that are inherent when taking place in the outdoor activities involved. Participants are responsible for notifying the workshop host of any concerns regarding their health or suitability to participate in the photography workshop.

5. If you need to cancel your booking please inform me as soon as possible, email or a phone call is acceptable.  The following refunds apply: 

More than 30 days beforehand - the amount paid less the £150 non-refundable deposit.

Between 30 -15 days beforehand - 50% refund of the total amount paid.

Less than 14 days beforehand - No refund.

No refunds are applicable for rescheduled/Re-arranged dates.

4. Refund payments can only be paid to the original payee. 

Whilst all reasonable care will be taken to ensure participants remain safe throughout, I can accept no personal liability for injury or damage done to participants persons or property. It is recommended that all attendees consider obtaining appropriate insurance.
