Stunning rainbow over Rydal water in the Lake District
A winter walk in the Lake District from Grasmere
New Year's Day 2025 in the breathtaking Lake District brought forth a stunning rainbow arching gracefully over Rydal Water, near the charming village of Grasmere, to beautifully welcome in the New Year with vibrant colors and a sense of hope.
Rydal Water is one of the Lake District’s smallest yet most enchanting lakes, and it has strong historical and literary connections with the esteemed Lakeland poet, William Wordsworth. This picturesque body of water is beautifully set against a backdrop of stunning mountain scenery, with the impressive Loughrigg rising majestically to the west and the charming Rydal Mount and the prominent Heron Pike situated directly opposite. Additionally, it stands out as one of the best low-level walks available in the area, allowing visitors to enjoy a scenic route that combines with Grasmere and the popular Coffin route, effectively creating a captivating full circuit of the two lakes.
