Split Rock is one of the most popular and dramatic sections of the coastline in Assynt and found at Clachtoll Beach, just a few miles up the road from Lochinver, a rather narrow one though so take your time! It’s a popular location for landscape photography but my visit in November was very much a chance to enjoy the traquility with just a couple of dog walkers strolling along the sands. The light was typical Scotland, mean and moody, and I spent a couple of hours watching the cloud formations moving out to the west when close to sunset a brief break allowed the sunbeam to light up the distant skyline.
