Split Rock Clachtoll is one of the most popular and photographed parts of the coastline in Assynt and famed for its coastal geogoly and stunning golden sands and turquoise sea. The beach is easily reached alog a single track road from Lochinver which makes it a very popular location for landscape photography and for visitors driving the NC500 route. Fortunately though my visit in November was very much a tarnquil one, hardly another soul around… just the local black cat after a little attention and wanting to make frined with my carbon fibre tripod. The moody light was typically Scottish Highlands, mean and moody, and in the edit black & white definitely made the most of it, emphasising the textures of the rocks and contrast with the sea as well as bringing out a little more detail of the faint sun rays struggling to burst through the cloud cover.
