Penmachno Roman Bridge Betws-y-coed Snowdonia
Penmachno roman bridge near Betws-y-coed in Snowdonia National Park. With the autumn colours looking great this year, after a sunrise at Llyn Padarn in Llanberis, I decided to have a drive to Penmachno and capture this wonderful 16th century packhorse bridge in full autumn colours. It's one of the hidden gems of the Snowdonia National Park, it's well worth a drive further down the Penmachno valley too as it's a great place to escape the hustle and bustle of the main hotspots.
Snowdonia lonely tree sunrise at Llanberis
Been a while since I've had a sunrise trip down to Snowdonia and it's 3 years since I last visited the famous lonely tree so the alarm clock went off at 04.50 this morning to get there in plenty of time.
The sunrise wasn't really happening, a few spots of rain and just a few glimpses of colour but nothing much until this one. I'd originally setup directly in front of the tree, which often tends to be the best spot for composition here, but I moved to this slightly different angle when the sunburst started, I think it balances things a little better.

A wander along the Pyg Track to Snowdon summit
It was our wedding anniversary this week and we'd decided we'd have a wander up the Pyg Track to Snowdon summit. A little cloudy on the way up but our luck was definitely in as after hanging around the summit for 15 minutes the clouds lifted and the wonderful views were revealed.

Stunning Snowdon sunrise and temperature inversion
Snowdonia at it's most stunning today... set the alarm for 4.00am as the weather had forecast the chance of a temperature inversion and having never seen one before from Snowdon summit I didn't want to miss the chance. It was a 2 hr trek in the dark up the Pyg Track from Pen Y Pass and all the time I could see the approaching cloud getting closer and closer to the Snowdonia peaks.... it definitely looked promising! I reached the top of the Pyg Track and headed towards Crib Goch to search for the best viewpoint to catch the rising sun next to Snowdon and what now had become an amazing cloud inversion, truly Mother Nature at her best. I took several photos of the sunrise and then headed up to Snowdon summit itself where I had the summit pillar all to myself so chance to setup the tripod and take a couple of photos of the summit pillar and the amazing backdrop of the cloud inversion. Views across to Crib Goch were equally as impressive, the clouds almost like waves lapping on the shore, occasionally streaming over the ridge. I real day to remember, my first cloud inversion on snowdon summit and a stunning sunrise to match it.
