A one day Anglesey photography workshop on the stunning Llanddwyn beach and Llanddwyn Island with the chance to photography a sunset of the iconic Twr Mawr lighthouse.

Anglesey photography workshops are a chance to spend a day improving your photography skills in one of the most beautiful coastal locations in the UK. Explore the marram grass dunes of Llanddwyn Beach, Corsican pines of Newborough Forest and spend time photographing Llanddwyn Island including the chance to photograph a sunset of the iconic view of Tŵr Mawr lighthouse with its spectacular backdrop of the Llyn Peninsula. The workshop is suitable for all photography skill levels.

  • Are the Anglesey photography courses suitable for all skill levels?

    All photography courses on the Isle of Anglesey are suitable for all skill levels from complete beginner to experienced photographers.

  • What aspects of landscape photography does the workshop include?

    The course includes comprehensive advice on all aspects of landscape photography including:

    • camera controls/settings such as aperture, shutter speed, manual, histogram;

    • filter choice and how to use them creatively;

    • equipment advice on lenses, tripods, camera bodies;

    • creative composition advice helping to understand how elements like light, color, texture, and shape interact to create visually interesting and emotive images.  

       

  • How large are the group sizes on Anglesey Photography Workshops?

    Group sizes on the Anglesey course are kept to a maximum of 6 participants to ensure everyone gets full support during the day.

  • What time does the workshop begin and end?

    The Anglesey photography workshop starts at Llanddwyn Beach car park at approx. 10.00am although exact timing will be confirmed 7 days before the workshop date once accurate tide timetables are available. The workshop should finish at approx 5.30pm

  • Is the host photographer an experienced landscape photographer and knowledgable about the Isle of Anglesey?

    Simon Kitchin has been hosting landscape photography workshops in North Wales for over 15years and is an award-winning and well published landscape photographer. Simon is a local North Wales based photographer and the author of the extremely popular guidebook PHOTOGRAPHING NORTH WALES so has expert knowledge of the Isle of Anglesey.

  • Is the host photographer an experienced teacher?

    Simon Kitchin has over 15years of helping people improve their photography skills having taught hundreds of photographers and also has professional teaching qualifications: BA (Hons) Degree in Education & Training.

  • What fitness levels are required to attend the Snowdonia workshop in Cwm Idwal?

    The one day Anglesey photography workshop involves walking approx 4.5 miles, requiring a reasonable level of fitness. We'll be walking on soft sands, uneven paths and through forestry with uneven and short but occasionally steep inclines so participants would need a certain level of mobility. Unfortunately this workshop isn't suitable for people with limited mobility.

  • What do I need to bring with me on the workshop?

    Essential items include: Camera (with aperture/shutter/manual controls) and a choice of lenses, a packed lunch/snacks and drinks, warm/waterproof clothing and good footwear.

    Optional items include: Filters, your camera user manual, a tripod

  • What happens in bad weather?

    I monitor weather forecasts and if conditions are predicted to be completely unsuitable, to ensure both your safety and enjoyment of the day, it may be necessary to cancel a workshop. I will endeavour to provide at least 24hrs notice, although this cannot always be guaranteed; you will be offered either a full refund or a place on a future course. Weather can be unpredictable all year round on the Isle of Anglesey and workshops can take place in very changeable conditions so you need to be suitably prepared, just in case.

  • What is NOT included in the Anglesey photography workshops?

    A packed lunch, accommodation, insurance. I recommend you consider obtaining suitable personal insurance to cover both your equipment and travel.
