North Wales 121 photography workshops are hosted by local landscape photographer Simon Kitchin with expert knowledge of the area, being the author the author of the popular photography guidebook, Photographing North Wales. 121 workshops in North Wales are available anywhere within the area and are suitable for all skills levels from begineer to advanced photographers. During the 121 photography workshops we typically visit 3 different locations and photograph a range of subjects which could include mountain scenery, waterfalls, glacial lakes, stunning beaches, lighthouses and ancient castles or abandoned slate quarries. Workshops include expert advice on both technical and creative composition aspects of landscape photography.

filter choice and how to use them creatively;
equipment advice on lenses, tripods, camera bodies;
creative composition advice helping to understand how elements like light, color, texture, and shape interact to create visually interesting and emotive images.

121 photography courses can visit coastal locations such as the Isle of Anglesey, the dramatic mountain landscapes of the Eryri Snowdonia National Park or areas such as the Clwydian Hills and Dee Valley.

Locations are planned to minimise travelling distance ensuring maximum photography time during the day.
Please note for safety reasons I do not guide people to mountain summits. Whilst it is possible to take in some higher viewpoints these will be on well defined paths and require no strenous climbing.

Simon Kitchin has been hosting landscape photography workshops in North Wales for over 15years and is an award-winning and well published landscape photographer. Simon is a local North Wales based photographer and the author of the extremely popular guidebook PHOTOGRAPHING NORTH WALES so has expert knowledge of the area.
Is the host photographer an experienced teacher?
Simon Kitchin has over 15years of helping people improve their photography skills having taught hundreds of photographers and also has professional teaching qualifications: BA (Hons) Degree in Education & Training.
What fitness levels are required to attend 121 photography workshops in North Wales?
121 photography workshops can be tailored for all levels of fitness and mobility and locations chosen to suit any individual requirements.
What do I need to bring with me on the workshop?
Essential items include: Camera (with aperture/shutter/manual controls) and a choice of lenses, a packed lunch/snacks and drinks, warm/waterproof clothing and good footwear.
Optional items include: Filters, your camera user manual, a tripod
What happens in bad weather?
I monitor weather forecasts and if conditions are predicted to be completely unsuitable, to ensure both your safety and enjoyment of the day, it may be necessary to cancel a workshop. I will endeavour to provide at least 24hrs notice, although this cannot always be guaranteed; you will be offered either a full refund or a re-arranged alternative date. Weather can be unpredictable all year round in North Wales and workshops can take place in very changeable conditions throughout the year so you need to be suitably prepared, just in case.
Is transport provided on 121 workshops in North Wales?
Transport IS NOT provided on 121 photography workshops so participants will need their own vehicle for the duration of the day to travel between locations.
