Castell Dinas Bran Llangollen - a misty morning walk
An amazing misty morning walk above Castell Dinas Bran Llangollen on the Panorama today with some just fantastic conditions for photography. The Dee Valley was full of mist, the entire length along the River Dee from Chirk to Corwen, so on arriving in Llangollen I decided that it was definitely worth the effort of wandering up the hillside near to Trevor Rocks, an area I’ve photographed the castle ruins from before. Today was something special though, the mist lingering for several hours so I spent ages wandering up and down the hill as the mist ebbed and flowed through the valley and the warm light of sunrise started to light up the castle ruins.
Beautiful day on the Snowdonia photography workshop yesterday
Now photographers are often known to complain about "blue sky days" not being very appealing for landscape photography but I think the group on yesterdays photography workshop in Cwm Idwal might disagree, just nice to see some sunshine again in Eryri (Snowdonia) National Park.
Dates still available for 2026... new Friday workshop in April this year too.
Llanddwyn Island - How To Find and Photograph Twr Mawr Lighthouse
Llanddwyn Island, tucked along the wild southwestern coast of Anglesey in North Wales, is one of the UK’s most breathtaking locations for landscape photography. Whether you’re chasing golden-hour light, long-exposure seascapes, or atmospheric coastal scenes, Llanddwyn Island provides photographers with an ever-changing canvas shaped by tides, weather, and seasons.
From the iconic white Tŵr Mawr lighthouse to the romantic ruins of St Dwynwen’s Church, every corner of the island tells a story and presents a new composition waiting to be captured. As the legendary home of Wales’ patron saint of lovers, the island blends natural beauty with cultural history, making it a location that’s as inspiring as it is photogenic.
